Bluebell Woods

Work is stressful in the rundown to summer...there are always more books to mark and assignments to prep for and feedback on and data to enter. I know that I'm not the only one who has suffered in the UK's recent heatwave (I'm definitely a polar bear, NOT made for the heat...); I suddenly became a VERY big supporter of fans and any/all air conditioning systems.

The best way I have found to relax when I am stressed is to go for a long walk with the pooch. I love bumping into other families and dog owners, having those incidental cheerful conversations along the way, and enjoying being outside instead of in a stuffy classroom. There's nothing like getting out a map and finding a new route, exploring the countryside with your best bud by your side.

A family favourite plod within our local area is Badbury Clump, a National Trust woodland with a beautiful carpet of bluebells for that short Spring period of magic. It has a great little car park, a variety of trails, bike routes, and views over rolling unspoilt countryside.

I took Ayra there a few weeks ago to test out my new Canon G7X Mark II. I am a Canon girl through and through (although I admit to 99% of the time still not knowing what I'm doing...) but it is cumbersome and impractical to always take a full DSLR on afternoon strolls. I invested in the G7x Mark II after trawling online reviews - it seems to be perfect for vlogging and good quality images if you're looking for something less bulky, more practical. I am still getting my head around its various features, but so far it is a solid little bit of kit that works great for what I need it for.

  1. Wow, your photos are just incredible Chloe! I absolutely love visiting National Trusts, whether its the historic properties or the gorgeous open green spaces like this one! They're always so relaxed and I leave feeling peaceful! Ayra is so cute as well, I bet she adored this walk! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Oh bluebells were just so long ago now, lovely photos from your walk.
I wish I didn't have the urge to take my DSLR with me everywhere, but it comes everywhere, nothing lives up to it. haha xx
